We greatly value support from charitable trusts. Your donations enable us to make a real difference with our work.
We are always looking for grants and donations to enable us to visit more schools across England and Wales. Our talks and presentations are provided free of charge to schools and are consistently rated as excellent by teachers. Talks are provided to schools within a 30 mile radius of our office in Yeovil, Somerset. For the 2015-16 academic year, schools in Sussex can also receive free talks, thanks to grants from charitable trusts. In the summer of 2015, we provided a week of talks to schools Newcastle, with our Education Officer delivering presentations to almost 2,000 young people. Donations of any size can help us to contine this service and to provide free talks to schools in specific areas.
Through our Roots to Green Living programme, an Education Officer from YPTE provides long-term support to selected schools, helping them to develop their school grounds for environmental education and equipping teachers and other staff with the knowledge needed to make the new areas sustainable at the end of YPTE's input. Young people gain a great deal from working outdoors and through growing their own vegetables and flowers. We have already created new environmental areas in 15 schools in London and Somerset, thanks to funding from the Heathrow Community Fund, the Ernest Cook Trust and the Cadbury Foundation. With your help, we can do even more.
We are constantly developing new materials for our website, including our new downloadable lesson plans and presentations, online video clips on key environmental issues for use in the classroom, our fact sheet library and Conservation Education, our publication providing detailed environmental information for teachers and secondary school students.
Support from charitable trusts makes a huge difference to YPTE's ability to do more to inspire young people to take care of our world. To find out how you can help, please contact YPTE on 01935 315025.
