Team - Kate Lumsden

Kate’s passion for the Environment developed in early childhood where she was brought up in the beautiful South Downs National Park. The rolling East Sussex hills were her playground which enabled her to experience and understand first hand a little more about nature.
Living with and involving herself with animals both domestic and wild has been a continued love of Kate's. Growing up near a small Zoo, she was able to experience wild animals in a safe environment that nurtured her interest and enthusiasm for protecting them on a larger scale.
She has been fundraising and volunteering for YPTE for a large part of her life. At 15 Kate, her twin sister Emma and her brother Nick, organised a sponsored “Whale Walk” in 1977 to highlight the dangers surrounding excessive whaling.
Kate continued to support the Trust as an active volunteer and junior Trustee during the 1990’s and early 2000’s. This was alongside owning and running for 26 years a renowned London based catering company and hospitality staffing agency. Now, with a little more time on her hands Kate is thrilled to have been invited back to re-join the YPTE board as a Trustee.
As a business woman Kate has had the responsibility of employing, developing and encouraging young people in business. Her role was two-fold: to provide the finest food for events and high-profile dinners and inspire those working for her to be the best they could.
With her compassionate nature she involves herself in many different projects, helping and making a difference to others. Not least her 20 years’ involvement with a grant making charitable trust offering life lines and opportunities for others.
Kate lives in London but still escapes to the country when she is able. One of her passions is spending early mornings out on the gallops watching her horses train, and just being at one with nature.
