Team - Nicholas Gibson, Chairman

Nicholas Gibson was a founder Trustee of the Young People’s Trust in 1982 and oversaw the development of the Trust for some 28 years before resigning. He rejoined the board of Trustees as chairman in 2013.

Nick has worked in the financial services industry throughout his career, selling his own successful business in 1995. After a few more years in the industry, which included a period of providing advice to the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit at 10 Downing Street on the future structure of the State Pension Schemes, he set up and continues work for his own consultancy. This provides help to companies and charities, some of which is pro bono, in the ever complex area of corporate pensions.

As well as his work for the Young People’s Trust, Nick has been a Director (Surrey) of the Prince’s Youth Business Trust, a Trustee of the Bishopstoke Fishing Club on the river Itchen and Treasurer of the Clan Home Association.

Although now living in central London, Nick developed a strong and lasting interest in the environment and its flora and fauna as until his early 20s he lived in the countryside: born in Cornwall then moving through Scotland to Dorset with schooling in the East Riding of Yorkshire. His particular ambition is to help young people explore our countryside and learn about the environmental problems, especially climate change, confronting the world.

Nick is married to Charlotte and has three children and two grandchildren.
