The Young People’s Trust for the Environment (YPTE) is a charity that encourages young people’s understanding of the environment. It aims to give young people (and an increasing number of adults) clear and balanced information on a wide range of environmental issues, including climate change, plastic pollution, deforestation and endangered species. This enables them to make informed decisions about how to live their lives in a way that gives greater priority to the preservation of the natural world.

Better Planet Schools
Better Planet Schools is an online environmental education programme, created by the Young People's Trust for the Environment to engage children and teachers in the UK's primary schools. The programme aims to engage students and teachers to learn about and take action on key issues like saving energy to tackle climate change; reducing use of plastics and other waste and increasing recycling; fast fashion; air pollution; and creating new habitats for wildlife to thrive. Schools choose three learning 'modules' per year, with each module lasting a school term. With new modules being created each year, children and schools can be engaged year after year in learning more about key environmental issues and how they can make a difference with their actions.
We are changing our name!
From early August, YPTE is changing its name to Better Planet Education and we'll be getting a new website too! Our new digital platform is tailored to serve teachers, parents, and young people in their quest to become more environmentally aware.
Our rebranding and new website are the result of extensive feedback from our core audience – young people and educators. It marks a renewed commitment to delivering top-tier resources that empower schools and youth to take meaningful action towards a sustainable future.
The website will feature a comprehensive array of environmental topics, including climate change, plastic pollution, deforestation, and biodiversity conservation. It offers free downloadable lesson plans, assembly presentations, home learning packs, and over 200 fact sheets on various species and environmental subjects.
