About Us

Environmental Involvement for Young People

Originally founded in 1982, the Young People's Trust for the Environment is a charity which aims to encourage young people's understanding of the environment and of the need for sustainability.

We want to give young people a real awareness of environmental problems, such as climate change, disappearing wildlife, the pollution of soil, air and water, the destruction of rainforests and wetlands, the spread of desert regions and the misuse of the oceans.

All our materials aim to provide balanced views to take into account the realities of the modern world.  Understanding our impacts on the environment and the steps we can all take to minimise them is vital for everyone to understand.  The need for awareness of environmental issues is greater than ever and young people are increasingly taking leading roles in tackling environmental issues.  YPTE aims to encourage and inspire more young people to live more sustainably and to ensure that future generations live in greater harmony with the natural world.
