Spiders - aaaarrrggh! Slugs - yuk! Wasps - ouch! This is many people’s first reaction to the sight or mention of many of our minibeasts. The word ‘minibeast’ itself is misleading. It literally means ‘very small (mini), dangerous animal (beast)’ and indeed some of them are harmful - to both animals and humans. However, most of them are harmless and do, in fact, play a very important role in gardening and farming. All of them play a vital role in the life of the habitat in which they live.
