Renewable means that the energy won’t run out, unlike coal, oil and gas which will.  Before we get started on renewable energies let's take a look at non-renewable energy.

Liquid Hydrogen

Liquid hydrogen can be made by passing electricity through water.  This could be the future fuel for our cars.  Some already run off it or a mixture of hydrogen and petrol. It is clean, renewable and very effective but you still need electricity to make it which could come from a non-renewable source.
